Far East End Business Men Have Built up Fine Stores Our On Washington Ave.
Grand Haven Tribune 28 September 1923.

Business men in the newly grown for East End  business district have shown their faith in the future of the place by putting a great deal of money into buildings there even though it is quite removed from the usual trade centers….

The Hetzel Drug store was moved from its Seventh street location to this point and the management reports that it is doing very well…

The proprietors all report a good patronage and feel sure that the locations may some day be included in the main business district of a greater Grand Haven which may extend from the river front down Washington avenue for a number of blocks.

PFAFF PHARMACY Where Friends, politics and prescriptions are mixed. The Sunday Chronicle, Muskegon, Michigan 11 April 1982

Pfaff Pharmacy is more than a drug store.  To its patrons it is a friend, counselor, family and good neighbor.

…customers often compare memories of Hetzel and the narrow dimly lit drug store, which was less than half the size of the present store.  They recall the marble topped soda fountain, traditional tables, and window with bars for the pharmacist…

The store has been remodeled, enlarged and modernized four times without sacrificing its neighborhood flavor.

Owner Dwayne Bloemers and Cliff Pfaff, a former owner…have made it their goal over the years to maintain an atmosphere of when life was simpler.  “This is the way it will always be,”  said Bloemers regarding the fountain.  “You’re not going to make money from it, far from it,” Pfaff said, “but, money isn’t everything.”
